A good idea matured on fertile ground

Tophi saw the light of day as an importer in Hamburg in 1978. The Hanseatic environment seemed ideally suited to supply the German trade with wines. The company grew and prospered. The acquisition of “WSK – Wein- und Sektkellerei Ostrau” on the outskirts of Dresden in the mid-90’s gave Tophi a burst of growth. The company bottled its own wines, created its own products and supplied the new markets in Eastern Europe, which were practically just around the corner. With its experience of many years, its creation of trends, and its high-quality standards, Tophi evolved into one of the leading importers and distributors in the wine market.

Strong roots bring about further success

CEO Maximilian Brandner has managed the fortunes of Tophi Warenhandelsges. GmbH & Co KG since October 2014. In 2015, Oenologist Wilfried Dörr took over the responsibility for production at Tophi GmbH in Ostrau. Tophi has rapidly established itself as one of the leading full-service providers in the market of wines and spirits. This success is based on the highest quality standards and certifications, a pronounced spirit of innovation with the right hunch for trends, as well as a responsible production policy. Our national and international customers take delivery of everything from a single source: purchasing, production, quality management, marketing, sales, and logistics. Besides international wines and spirits, Tophi’s product range also includes sparkling wines and liqueurs.

We regularly maintain personal contact on-site with our suppliers on six continents. The trust thus established is the basis of our global purchasing, as only in this manner can we ensure a consistently high quality and diverse product range. In addition, we satisfy our own requirement of permanent high quality through our inhouse laboratory analyses, legally required wine tests and sensory tests. To accomplish this, we also invest in modern bottling facilities and storage concepts. With our new sales and marketing structure, we are now well equipped to further strengthen and expand our position in the international market.

Data & Facts

We don’t want to boast, but…

… the most important number is 150! Because the company owes its success in recent years to the 150 employees and staff located in our two sites in Hamburg and Ostrau. These additional facts speak for themselves and bear out the claim of our motivated team operating in a global company in our industry:

  • our entire operating area covers 55,000 square metres, the area of our
    warehouse for finished merchandise covers 21,500 square metres
  • our warehouse contains stainless steel tanks with a volume of 6.5 million litres
  • we bottle between 75-85 million bottles per year
  • our production capacity totals approximately 100 million units per year
  • we have four state-of-the-art bottling plants, one of them a bag-in-box system
  • we ship our merchandise to 40 countries in six continents
  • we have IFS and BRC certification and meet the guidelines of the DLG
  • we are authorised to bottle organically grown wine in accordance with “EC
    control system – control DE-032 for organic farming”
  • we have the possibility to license vegan products
